Inspired by the book Night on the milky way train by the japanese authour Kenji Miyazawa coreographer Rumiko Otsuka makes her first full lenght performance adressing the question of self-sacrifice in realtion to happiness.
Hej då Campanella! is a Swedish/Japanese collaboration between choreographer Rumiko Otsuka and audio and visual artists Kunihiko Matsuo and juni Koyanagi.
The beloved japanese author Kenji Miazawa (d. 1933) is a representation of japanese traditions. As a devoted buddist self-sacrifice is a reoccuring theme in his litterary world and is also one of the hightest valued virtues in Japan. By investigating Miyazawas work Rumiko Otsuka explores our relation to self-sacrifice as a way to happiness.
Kenji Miyazawa
(1896-1933) is one of Japan' s most beloved writers and poets, known particularly for his sensitive and symbolist children' s fiction.
120 years ago the author Kenji Miyazawa was born in Hanamaki, the northern part of Japan, He was a teacher, an engineer and a philosopher.
He lived in an era when the treat of world war II was growing and he died at the early age of 37, in 1933.
Through his stories he reflected his experiences of life and the philosophies that he believed, greatly influenced by his sister' s death.

A multimedia dance performance that connects memories of the past, present, and future
HILUM :
1. Botany - the mark or scar on a seed produced by separation from its funicle or placenta. the nucleus of a granule of starch.
2. Mycology - a mark or scar on a spore at the point of attachment to the spore-bearing structure.
3. Anatomy - the region at which the vessels, nerves, etc., enter or emerge from a part.
This production is a live performance to share a new memory in the present moment and to connect past and future memories about the land.
In the playground of the abandoned Kawakami junior high school, there suddenly appears a stark-white hexagonal pillar which is alien to the surroundings of Kawakami' s deep nature.
The object looks like the earth' s navel or a window to another dimension. Various images, some of them alien to the land while others awake memories of the land, are projected onto the object. There, six performers dance as if they are laying a trail of new memories and then, as if they are reeling in old memories.
Electronic sounds, buzzing airwaves, and sounds from a distant land meld with the ambient sounds on the stage until they become indistinguishable from each other. There emerges a soundscape that has never been heard there before or since. The next moment, drums are beaten as if to drive the dancers.
Through the experience of this setting called performance, the audience will perceive the past, present, and future not as 'upper case history' but as a calm and incessant flow of time and will realize that he/she exists to constitute the memory of this time and this place.
Following the resident production and premiere in Kawakami, the piece will then be performed without any alteration, at special places in and out of Japan that are filled with history and memories as deep and still as those of the old Kawakami junior high school are.

THEME 'Mélange'
As the theme suggests ODISHA BIENNALE 2015 will be a true amalgamation of art, artists and art lovers in all senses. From the plethora of artists gracing the festival, to the variety of events and attendees, ODISHA BIENNALE will be a unique alloy of national and international artists who would put together their skills to form a canvas of creative experiments and experiences that aim to inspire, motivate, teach and share. This will allow a faithful mixture of ideas not only in individual art forms but also inter-disciplinary collaborations. By providing a unique platform we aim to both increase the desire to create and also to nurture a deep sense of inter-culturality, which will help in a greater understanding of the importance of culture and communication for solving present challenges at a global scale. We aim to promote interest in art and culture with a view to stimulate innovation, creativity and with a keen understanding of cultural diversity and expression. ODISHA BIENNALE, through collaboration will highlight how marginalized cultures can regain cultural recognition through collaboration with international artists, allowing them to innovate on a larger platform.

ODISHA BIENNALE 2015 invites international and Indian artists to showcase their own repertoires and new works, and organise workshops by the invited artists We select works of 4 emerging artists in the beginning stages of their careers and present their work during ODISHA BIENNALE 2015. The 4 artists or artist groups would be complimented with the participation in the workshops by the invited artists, and the interactive talk sessions with the art critics, connoisseurs, and scholars who witness the ODISHA BIENNALE 2015. ODISHA BIENNALE 2015 will have 4 main activities in the performing arts section: showcasing of invited artists, showcasing of emerging artists, workshops by the invited artists and interactive talk sessions with art connoisseurs & artists.
ART / DESIGN / FASHION
Not only fine arts, ODISHA BIENNALE 2015 will exhibit also pop culture, advertising design, and fashion etc which excels. We will create a flat platform breaking the boundary of those categories and create a new dimension into the contemporary art. The art works will be exhibited for 1 week in a gallery in Odisha. We will organise artist in residency for a month to create a collaboration production between an international artist and local artists and will showcase during ODISHA BIENNALE 2015.
FILM / PHOTOGRAPHY
ODISHA BIENNALE 2015 will focus on documentary film this time. We will strive to search for a creative production beyond the categories of photo exhibition or film screening.]]>
[SO & CO. So UEDA Dance Company]
Established in 2014 by So Ueda gathering artists from various fields to explore possibilities of live corporeal expressions, free from any genre, format or style. Ueda has worked for various groups and projects related to Sal Vanilla from 1996: Butoh Kobo Wakashu, Daizu-ko Farm and others. He joined Yuzo Ishiyama/A.P.I in 2006. Based on butoh and martial arts, Ueda's dance is mostly improvisational.

A new creation derived from the full-length piece HILUM which was premiered in Kagoshima in October 2014. A completely new piece although retaining the essence of the original, Unilam is scheduled to tour at various historical places around the country and abroad after its premiere at TPAM in Yokohama, without changing its content.

Este taller tiene como objetivo principal dar a conocer métodos de producción de tecnología digital. En esta experiencia exploraremos el potencial de los medios actuales desde una perspectiva física. El enfoque en particular está en cómo producir material, como realizar una performance y no en cómo hacer un trabajo interesante.

Actualmente la tecnología digital es muy importante en nuestras vidas, casi se podría decir que es nuestro hábitat natural. Como consecuencia vemos que las posibilidades para aplicar tecnología en el campo de la performance incrementan cada día. ¿ Cómo ser capaces de usar esta desde del proceso creativo de una obra?.
El trabajo se dará en equipo.
El taller esta dirigido a bailarines, técnicos, músicos, video artistas o artistas en general.
Fechas: 13 y 14 de Mayo de 10 am a 2pm. En el auditorio del MAC Lima.
Si los participantes lo desean Matsuo tiene disponibilidad de trabajar extra 2 horas por la tarde. La propuesta es generar un laboratorio de experimentación interdisciplinaria.
No es indispensable llevar computadora o cámara.
Costo: 200 soles por persona. Máximo 18 participantes.

I would like to welcome you to my studio showing at Danscetrum Syd. This is a result of what I researched in Japan with 2 audio/visual artist, Junji Koyanagi and Kunihiko Matsuo, in Tokyo in January. 'Good Bye Campanella' is influenced by a popular Japanese fairy tale written by author Kenji Miyazawa. A literary, scientific, and religious fable, ' Milky Way Railroad' depicts a universe that is intensely sad yet profoundly miraculous.
I would like to share our experiment and receive feedback from the audience to aid further develop. A premiere is scheduled Autumn 2015, funded by Malmö stad.
This research period is funded/supported by Konstnärsnämnden, and Danscentrum Syd.

小野雅子プロフィール
東京都出身 インド オディシャ州在住
モダンダンス、ヒップホップ等を経て、1996年からオディッシーダンスを学ぶために渡印。世界レベルのインド舞踊家を育成輩出するインド舞踊名門校ヌリッティアグラムに入門。卒業後2001年からソロ公演を始め、世界各国にて公演。2007年から日本人としては唯一のインド政府公認オディッシーダンサーとなり、同年、NHK BS1「ファーストジャパニーズ」に出演。2008年NEWSWEEK誌「世界が最も尊敬する日本人100人」の一人として選ばれる。現在は、公演を中心に活動する傍ら、異分野のアーティストとのコラボレーションによる、コンテンポラリー・トラディショナルな舞を展開中。2009年に「アートをみんなに」というコンセプトでムドラーファンデーションを立ち上げ、2013年からはオディシャ・ビエンナーレを主催。

Odissi Dance
紀元前２世紀からの歴史をもち、７つのインド古典舞踊のうちのひとつであるオディッシーダンス。インドの東に位置するオディシャ州で生まれた。他のインド古典舞踊と同様、ヒンドゥー教の寺院内で、巫女たちによって日夜神にささげるために踊られていた踊りが発展したものである。13世紀に建築されたコナーラクの太陽寺院のダンスホールには、踊り子たちの様々なポーズが美しい彫刻として残っている。オディッシーはまるでその彫刻たちが踊りだしたようなダンスなのである。

Un vieil arbre, grand et honoré par le temps, né et vécu une fois dans une dense forêt, aujourd'hui se retrouve seul au milieu d'un désert. Une nuit de pleine lune amène un musicien gitan sous son ombre. Jungala raconte en série des évènements qui se sont passés pendant leur rencontre.
On ne connaît pas l'ordre, ni l'histoire en entier, mais juste quelques évènements. Les interprètes, deux danseuses et deux musiciens se retrouvent ainsi dans des situations enjunglées qui se dévoilent devant leurs yeux en laissant libre cours à l'exploration, le suspense, la découverte, la surprise et l'émerveillement. Jungala est une pièce chorégraphique d'une durée de 40 min pour enfants à partir de 5 ans avec musique live, projection interactive et danse. Le spectacle est conçu pour offrir au jeune public une agréable introduction à la performance contemporaine.
